The precariously anchored awning in front of the former Burger King at 4422 Connecticut Avenue has been removed. And that’s not the biggest change we could see at the site.
The property, managed by Rockville-based Alvin L. Aubinoe, Inc., has been listed for $6,750,000. Two lots are for sale: the former drive-thru restaurant, and the parking lot that is split from the building by an alley that services the Hastings condos, Bread Furst, and ZIPS. The combined lot size is 19,670 square feet.
Broker Feldman Ruel calls it an “iconic” development site, as for decades it was home to the “rock ‘n roll” Burger King.
As for the awning, workers arrived on Friday, July 5th to remove it, more than 30 days after the DC Department of Buildings posted warnings that the awning supports were not stable.
We don’t know if Aubinoe sent the workers, or the city did. If the District did the work, it could charge for the service via a lien on the property, per the posted notice.
